App Analytics atelier

Mobile products leave a wake. We teach you to read it.

Catalogvectorgrid is not a tool vendor and not a bootcamp. It is a small teaching studio for people who already ship apps and still find their dashboards strangely mute. We work from event names to retention curves, with the patience of a print desk.

From the last London cohort

“The Event Catalogue week forced us to retire seventeen names we had been too fond of. Painful, and then the funnel finally made sense.” Marta K. · growth lead, subscription audio

Students arrive fluent in screenshots and leave with a written measurement contract: what is captured, why it exists, and which questions it is allowed to answer. The reservation we hear most often is that the first assignment is denser than the marketing copy admits. That is deliberate. App Analytics done in a hurry is how vanity metrics take root.

If you want a certificate factory, this is the wrong door. If you want a quieter way to argue with your own charts, begin with the atelier.

Featured programme

Product Signal Atelier

A twelve-week studio covering instrumentation ethics, the event catalogue, funnel geometry, the first thirty days of retention, and paywall arithmetic. Live critiques sit beside written briefs. You will not be asked to install a particular vendor; you will be asked to defend every event you keep.

Taught by Helena Voss from the East Looe studio, with two evening sessions a week for the remote circle. Typical load is six and a half hours. The syllabus names a real limit: we do not teach web analytics stacks in any depth.

How the studio thinks

Three habits we keep repeating

01

Name things as if they must survive a redesign

An event called button_click_v3 is a future incident. We treat taxonomy as editorial work: durable nouns, boring verbs, and a written reason to exist.

02

Curves before colours

A retention plot with a honest denominator tells you more than a traffic-light dashboard. We spend an entire week on the first thirty days because that is where most consumer apps tell on themselves.

03

Paywalls are arithmetic, not theatre

Funnel Geometry week is unsentimental about trial, price tests, and the drop that looks like “friction” and is actually disbelief. You will leave with a worksheet, not a slogan.

Retention after the install is a different species of number

Day-one return is not a personality trait of the user. It is a property of the first session you actually shipped.

Taxonomy

Event names that survive a redesign

When the UI is thrown out, the catalogue should still describe the product. That only happens if you named verbs, not pixels.
